Hi there,
I’m Greetje.
Nice to meet you.
For over 15 years, I’ve worked in children’s publishing as an acquiring editor, guiding more than 1,000 books from the very first idea to publication.
Along the way, I’ve worked closely with over 400 authors and illustrators, helping them develop their manuscripts, stories and illustrations into books that were ready for publication. That went on to reach children in more than 30 countries worldwide.
Those years on the inside of publishing taught me how editors look at a project. I learned to recognise what makes a story work, where it loses its focus, what makes a character memorable, how words and images need to work together, and what can turn a promising idea into a book a publisher wants to publish.
But I also learned that good editorial guidance is about understanding what the creator is trying to make and helping them make that version as strong as it can possibly be. That’s still at the heart of how I work today.
I combine my publishing experience and editorial eye with a very personal approach. I look at structure, pacing, character, visual storytelling, originality and publishing potential, while always protecting the voice and intention behind the work.
I won’t tell you what I would write or illustrate. I’ll help you see what’s already working, understand what’s holding your project back, and make the editorial decisions that will move it closer to publication. Because ultimately, my job is to help you make it unmistakably yours and strong enough to be ready for the publishing world.
